1915- Shinichi Suzuki hears "Ave Maria" and starts to teach himself violin

1916- Suzuki begins working full-time in his father's violin factory

1920-Suzuki goes to study in Germany

1928-Suzuki marries Waltraud and moves back to Japan

1930- Suzuki accepts 4 year old Toshiya Eto and 3 year old Koji Toyoda as violin students

1945-Beginning of Talent Education in Matsumoto with one violin and 5 children

1955-First Japan Annual Concert

1958- Film of 1955 annual concert shown at Oberlin College

1959-John Kendell visits Matsumoto

1961-Casals is greatly impressed when he hears Suzuki students in Tokyo

1963-Clifford Cook begins Suzuki program at Oberlin with 30 students and 2 Japanese teachers

1964-First US tour of Suzuki and 10 students;historic MENC/ASTA conference performance. Suzuki is first recipient of ASTA International Award. First Canadian Suzuki program started

1968-Mrs. Suzuki's English translation of "Nurtured by Love" is published

1971-Suzuki piano is introduced in US by Constance Starr

1972-SAA is founded

1974- Susan Grilli founds Suzuki Pre-School in New York

1978-Takahashi begins Suzuki flute training in US

1980- European Suzuki Association founded

1983-International Suzuki Association founded

1984-Dr.Suzuki receives an honorary docotorate from Oberlin College

1993-Dr.Suzuki is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. First Suzuki Guitar performance at an International Conference

1998Dr. Suzuki dies at 99. Concerts celebrating the centennial of Suzuki's birth are held around the world.

1999-First Latin American Suzuki teachers conference is held in Lima,Peru

2000 Koji Toyoda becomes President of Talent Education Research Institute
